There are very few people on this planet that don't love a good cup of coffee, myself included!
While, of course, it should be enjoyed in moderation, what you put in your coffee, no matter how often you have it, should be absolute top quality.
My mom and sister and nearly all of my clients are big fans of the bottled, flavored creamer. French vanilla, Irish cream, toffee, caramel-you name it. The problem with these things is that they are LOADED with nasty chemicals. You may need to lighten and sweeten up a cup of coffee, but you shouldn't be doing it with things that are so tough on the body.
What may be "just a splash" truly adds up over time. You're looking at potentially over 10g of sugar, artificial colors and flavors, and a laundry list of other harmful additives.
But that doesn't mean you have force yourself to join the black coffee club!
I've got the perfect, super easy, totally customizable solution.
Here's what you'll need:
-1 cup cashews
-2 cups water (plus more for soaking)
-Optional add ins. I used vanilla but consider any of the following:
* Pumpkin pie spice
* Coconut sugar
* Pumpkin Puree
Here's what to do:
-Soak the cashews for 4-8 hours (or, if you're lazy like me, don't soak at all!)
-Rinse the cashews and place in blender with 2 cups water.
-Add additional flavors/sweeteners.
-Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!
For my recipe, I used 1 tsp vanilla. I'd recommend about a tsp or two of any spice, and 3 tbsp (or to your preferences) of any sweetener.
This keeps well in the fridge in a bottle with a lid, but give it a good shake before adding to your coffee.
If you're super lazy, such as myself, and don't soak the cashews, you may have little bits of cashew that settle to the bottom. If you're less lazy than me and soak like you're supposed to, these should be very minimal.
